Pat Burden, CPA, has been working alongside businesses, families and individuals for over 36 years. Audit and tax services are Pat’s bread and butter, as she’s worked as a legislative auditor for the state of Maryland and an internal auditor for the Farmers and Merchants Bank. She has experience with setting up internal control systems, educating management and employees on the importance of internal controls and more. These experiences have helped Pat become very organized and detailed oriented and allowed her to work with people of all levels at an organization.

Prior to joining Gross Mendelsohn, Pat worked alongside her husband, Ray Burden, as they operated their own accounting firm, Raymond M. Burden, CPA, P.A. Pat prides herself on her ability to juggle various responsibilities as she wore many hats during her time at Raymond M. Burden, CPA, P.A. by preparing tax returns, payroll returns and 1099s while also handling the firm’s administrative items like payroll and 401(k) plans.

One of Pat’s favorite things about being a CPA is getting to work on a wide variety of tasks by providing financial guidance to her clients as they navigate major life-changing events or simple day-to-day business.

Just For Fun

  • Pat greatly enjoys traveling and hiking with her husband, especially at national parks and monuments. They have visited 27 national parks and many national monuments.

  • Pat’s husband bought her a Fitbit a few years ago and has become somewhat obsessed with seeing how many steps she can average daily over the course of a year. She thinks her husband may be regretting his purchase.

  • Pat and her husband met in an accounting class at Towson University and they both passed the CPA exam on their first try.
