Columbia Roofing began its relationship with Gross Mendelsohn in 1988. The firm's Construction & Real Estate Group helped Columbia Roofing with quite a bit in the early stages of the relationship, helping the construction company lay good groundwork for solid accounting and operational practices. Gross Mendelsohn helped Columbia Roofing with bookkeeping, financial statement preparation and tax issues.
Gross Mendelsohn’s Technology Solutions Group installed and configured a Timberline Office construction accounting system to meet the operational and financial requirements of the business. The firm created custom job cost and financial management reports to provide up-to-date information on revenues, costs and profits by job, by market (customer categories) and internal departments.
Columbia Roofing also called on the Technology Solutions Group to setup their network infrastructure, including server, workstations and printers.
Today, Columbia Roofing has an in-house controller who manages the business’s day-to-day accounting needs. Gross Mendelsohn reviews the financial statements prepared by the company’s controller, handles the income tax preparation and ongoing tax planning for both the company and its owners, and helps Columbia Roofing with any insurance and banking needs that arise.
The firm’s Technology Solutions Group provides ongoing telephone and onsite support as well as assistance with report design. Columbia Roofing relies on the firm’s technology specialists to setup new workstations, printers and related computer hardware, and perform periodic maintenance on the server and workstations, including installing and configuring antivirus updates, installing Windows service packs, adding / removing network users, and monitoring disk space and event logs.
