In Our Client's Words
“What I really get out of our relationship is obviously the audit as a product, but also their expertise in the field. This is the first time we've had auditors that have actually been experts in our industry. So, having them as a resource throughout the year is invaluable to me. They know all about Medicaid, Medicare and nonprofit accounting, which helps me do my job better versus having to teach them about how our industry is run.
I also love working with Jenn [Rock]. Her name is perfect because she's a rock star. She always comes through for us. Our deadline is at a horrible time of year because it's during the holidays and as she gears up for tax season, but she always gets it done and makes sure our deadlines are met.
Jenn also does a really great job of presenting to our Finance Committee. We have a pretty complex set of financial statements, but she explains everything in a way that every member of the Finance Committee can follow along — not everyone can do that. This has been incredibly positive with our Finance Committee because it shows the reliability of the auditors and builds that trusting relationship. I think that’s been very important for our organization since it was a big frustration in the past. I know my committee is happy.
Jenn and her team have always kept their word. They've always met the deadlines that we've expected, and that hasn't always been the case with other auditors. It’s also really nice having a partner and knowing that if there’s something I don’t understand about either nonprofit accounting or our specific industry, I can phone a friend. This has freed me up from feeling like I have to understand everything because I know we have that expertise available through Jenn and the Gross Mendelsohn team.”
