The situation
When Caroline Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center sought a new CPA firm in 2011, the organization was looking for a new and improved perspective on business office practices. Gross Mendelsohn was considered along with several other CPA firms, and ultimately the nursing home’s leadership team was most impressed with Jim Crisp’s level of expertise and long term healthcare industry experience.
Caroline Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center hired Gross Mendelsohn’s Healthcare Group in 2011 to provide audited financial statements and prepare the organization’s Form 990, personal property tax return, and Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.
In our client's words
“Jim Crisp and Jennifer Green maintain an open line of communication through the whole audit process. They are very refreshing to work with. They’re helpful when it comes to giving us new, practical ideas on how to improve our organization, while still being mindful that we are a small organization. For example, they helped us strengthen our internal controls despite our small staff size.
When we wanted to create a well rounded compliance program within our organization, Jim and Jennifer jumped in to help. Jennifer provided samples of conflict of interest statements, for instance.
Our board was very impressed with the annual audit and with the presentation that Gross Mendelsohn did at the board meeting. Although a lot of complex financial information was discussed, Jim and Jennifer presented it in a way that made a lot of sense to our board members.
