Just For Fun

  • While serving in a leadership role for a large professional services firm, Stephen went to cooking school at night with a very real plan to open a wine bar or hot dog shop somewhere warm. He finished the program and spent years scouting the “perfect” location. In the end, Stephen realized he might enjoy sitting in the sun and sipping cocktails a little more than running the kitchen. The dream is still alive though. One day, there may be a beachside spot with his name on it.

  • After attending art school, Stephen was convinced he was headed for Madison Avenue, channeling his inner Don Draper from Mad Men — sharp suits and big campaigns included. A quick education in how competitive and cutthroat that world can be led him to rethink the plan. As the internet began to take off, Stephen pivoted into information systems — not quite as glamorous, but far more practical. He still appreciates great branding and a well-cut suit.

  • Stephen still paints and shoots photography when he can. It is his way of slowing down and thinking differently. Although he isn’t always able to give it the time it deserves, he is proud of several pieces he’s created over the years. The artist in Stephen never fully left — he just learned how to live alongside spreadsheets and strategy.
