Microsoft’s fall 2025 update for Dynamics 365 Business Central continues to advance automation, AI-driven insights and usability improvements across finance, operations and reporting. Most clients will see their environments updated in November 2025.
Here we’ll highlight some of the top features in this release.
1. AI-Powered Productivity With Copilot and Agents
AI continues to be a central focus for Business Central, and this release expands the capabilities of Copilot and AI agents across the platform.
New and Expanded AI Agents
- Sales Agent
 The Sales Agent, initially in preview last spring, now manages the entire sales process — from receiving a customer’s item request to generating a quote, verifying availability and converting it into a sales order.- Supports reading PDFs and image attachments in emails to automatically create sales orders
- Recognizes multiple ship-to addresses per customer
- Automates order processing for known customers
- Responds to item availability requests with both on-hand and producible quantities
 
- Payables Agent
 This AI agent scans vendor invoice attachments from your email inbox and creates purchase invoices in Business Central for review.
- Copilot for Analysis Views
 Instead of manually building reports, users can now describe their analysis in plain language and let Copilot automatically create analysis views.
Copilot Features In Preview or Coming Soon
- Autofill contact details using AI (in preview)
- Purchase invoice matching with Payables Agent (coming soon)
- Record summarization with Copilot (in preview)
- AI agent integration with external data via Copilot Studio and MCP Server (in preview)
AI Cost Transparency
A new Copilot and Agent Capabilities page clarifies which AI tools are:
- Included in Business Central licensing (“Not Billed”)
- Microsoft-billed (via Azure or Microsoft 365)
- Third-party billed
From this page, administrators can enable or disable AI features as needed.
2. Enhanced Financial Management and Reporting
Several updates simplify compliance, improve visibility and modernize reporting.
- Native 1099 submission through the IRS IRIS platform eliminates the need for third-party tools
- Create multiple fixed asset records from a single purchase invoice
- New Accounts Payable Role Center centralizes AP processes and documents
- Audit Trail Report consolidates data from the G/L Register and G/L Entry tables into a single traceable report
- Financial Reporting Enhancements where you edit row layouts in Excel, autofill “No” and “Description” fields and use dynamic column headings
- Deferral Reporting Updates replace RDL with modern Excel and Word layouts, and three new list pages provide quick access to posted and unposted deferral entries
3. Power BI Enhancements
All Business Central Power BI apps are now open source, giving organizations full access to customize report models and visuals. Updates across Power BI apps include:
- Finance App — new late payment and aged receivables reports for improved cash flow management
- Inventory App — new Inventory Forecasting report page
- Sales App — refreshed sales forecast and sales by project pages
- Purchasing App — now supports dimensions as filters and slicers, plus several new report pages:
- Key Purchasing Influencers
- Purchase Forecast Report
- Vendor Quality Analysis Report
- Purchase Quote Overview
- Purchase Returns Overview
 
Together, these updates make Business Central’s reporting tools more powerful, flexible and transparent than ever.
4. Streamlined User Experience
- Improved “Tell Me” search allows you to find reports and pages without needing the exact title
- Modernized sales reports now use Word and Excel layouts for easier customization
- Word add-in enhancements include a new task pane that simplifies adding fields to Word-based report layouts
5. Simplified Setup and Compliance
Business Central continues to enhance usability for administrators and finance professionals:
- Easily create multiple fixed assets at once when purchased together
- Centralized AP Role Center streamlines invoice and vendor management
- Updated time-saving automation throughout key modules including deferrals and reporting
