Anyone who sells alcoholic beverages — such as restaurants, bars, caterers and liquor stores — needs to be aware of Maryland’s new sales tax rate on alcoholic beverage sales.

We urge you to review the frequently asked questions developed by Maryland’s Comptroller’s office to learn how they will administer the new 9 percent sales tax rate on alcoholic beverages. The new sales tax rate was passed into law in the last legislative session and recently signed into law by Governor O’Malley.
