Thirty-three members of Gross Mendelsohn’s staff volunteered at the Maryland Food Bank on Tuesday, July 27, to sort canned goods and process food that will be distributed to combat hunger in Maryland.
The volunteers from Gross Mendelsohn worked in two shifts. The morning shift sorted 39,759 cans of chicken broth in three hours. The afternoon shift processed 4,766 pounds of food, which translates into 3,843 meals that will be distributed in Maryland.
Gross Mendelsohn, a Maryland-based CPA firm, is celebrating its 50th anniversary year in 2010 by taking on several large-scale community service projects like the one with Maryland Food Bank. The firm completed a similar community service project on June 23 with Parks & People Foundation, when 33 volunteers from Gross Mendelsohn planted trees, installed raised garden beds, planted hundreds of perennials, collected trash and spread mulch around the Sandtown-Winchester Community Center and Women's Alternative Living Facility in Baltimore City.
“I’m thrilled with what we accomplished at the Maryland Food Bank in just six hours,” says David Goldner, CPA, CVA, CFP, Gross Mendelsohn’s managing partner. “I’m proud of our team, and we’re happy to have the opportunity to give back to the local community that has supported the firm for 50 years.”
